Another major development emerged on Saturday for Pakistani cricket fans, as Pakistan national team fast bowler Mohammad Amir also announced his retirement from international cricket, following Imad Wasim.
Amir made the announcement on social media, expressing that playing for Pakistan in all three formats was an honor for him. He further stated, “I know this is a tough decision, but I believe it is the right time for the next generation to take responsibility and elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights.”
Mohammad Amir started his international cricket career in 2009, during which he played 36 Tests, 61 One-Day Internationals, and 62 T20 matches. Over his career, Amir claimed a total of 271 international wickets and scored 1,179 runs. Amir was also part of the team that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009.
It’s worth noting that Amir faced criticism for his underwhelming performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which seems to have played a role in his decision to retire.
